Integrated Body Movement Program - Released
The Integrated Body Movement (IBM) program was created for Clear Minded For Life in early 2017 by Body to Soul’s Rebecca Passey. Clear Minded For Life is a meditation organisation that has been working in schools around Australia for the past 5 years teaching children meditation. The Clear Minded For Life meditation technique teaches children to use their breath to help clear their mind, be able to focus on their breath, a specific thought, sound or idea and experience deep calm and relaxation.
The IBM program is a unique body movement system that complements the Clear Minded For Life meditation techniques and in June 2017, the pilot program was completed at Gold Creek School in the ACT. The IBM program was taught by Justine Janssen and her team from Power Yoga Canberra reaching more than 700 children across 25 classes at Gold Creek School. The IBM program is a practice that facilitates flexibility and builds strength. It helps to bring focus and mental clarity and is an excellent natural stress release. The program assists students to develop self-awareness and self-observation through mindfulness practices and supports overall physical, emotional and mental wellbeing.
The program combines a number of different modalities including yoga practices, Taoist teachings and Buddhist mindfulness teachings. While it integrates and draws on a number of practices, there is no religious affiliation or other spiritual teachings incorporated into the program.
The IBM program is simple, safe, fun and easily performed by most students regardless of fitness level or flexibility.
